The Basics

Registration Fees

Registration fees pay your Scout's membership with the National BSA organization and is passed directly to the Bluegrass Council (our local council).  Registration fees are paid for the calendar year - January to December.  Prorated rates are available for those joining partially through the year.

Every October we begin our recharter process and fees for the upcoming year are collected.

Please note that Pack 167 does not retain any of the registration fees.  All fees go straight to the Bluegrass Council.

Financial Aid

Scouting is inclusive to all children, and we do not want anyone to not participate because of financial reasons.  There are several financial aid options available.  If you have any questions, reach out to a Leader.

Dues and Other Fees

Pack 167 is a DUES FREE pack.  This means we do not charge any dues for typical meetings or pack activities for the Scout.  There may be campouts or other activities that occur outside regular meetings that will have an additional fee.  Scout siblings and other family members attending Pack activities may be required to pay any fees.

Council or District level events or camps may also chagre a fee.  These fees are not determined by Pack 167 and would be paid directly to the Council.

Please note, we want ALL Scouts to participate regardless of ability to pay.  If you need any assistance with fees or receive financial aid reach out to the treasurer, there may be funds available to help cover the cost.

Dens

Our Pack is made up of 6 dens for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Each Den meets weekly to complete requirements for rank advancement.

Dens are the small groups organized by school grade that your child will participate in their advancement activities with. Each den has a leader who has been approved, background-checked, and gone through extensive position-specific training.  We want Scouting to be fun for you and your kiddo, so please plan to work alongside your den leader, participate in the activities & possibly find a place where you can volunteer too!

Lion - Kindergarten

Because Kindergarteners need more hands on and one on one assistance an adult partner is required to be present at every meeting with the Lion Scout.  A Lion Guide helps to coordinate the Lion meetings in conjunction with the adult partner(s) of the Lion.  The Lion Guide will reach out to Lion adult partners to help coordinate and complete den meetings. An adult partner is required to be present at all Lion meetings.

Uniforms

Pack members are required to wear uniforms to meetings and most activities.  Uniform requirements vary slightly based on den.

Uniforms can be purchased at the Bluegrass Council Scout Shop - in-person or online.  Uniforms can also sometimes be found through local yard sale groups.  We also have a small selection of pack uniform pieces available at no charge.  Availability and selection vary.  Pieces come primarily from scouts who have outgrown or aged out of their uniforms.  Our only request is to return uniform pieces when you no longer need them so others can use.

Class A Uniforms

Pack 167 follows a "waist up" requirement for uniforms.  Most meetings, formal events, and activities where we are representative of Cub Scouting is when to expect to wear a Class A Uniform.  Only registered Scouts are allowed to wear a Class A uniform.  We HIGHLY recommend that you "size up" when buying the blue scout shirt (Tigers-Webelos 1).  This shirt can be worn up through 4th grade.

Class B Uniforms

Pack 167 also utilizes Class B Uniforms.  These are Pack t-shirts that we make and order at the beginning of each scouting year.  Class B shirts are for activities and events where scouts will be active such as hikes, fishing, and camping.  Class B shirts can be worn by the Scout and any family members.   New shirt patterns are ordered yearly, but Class B shirts from any year can be worn.
